The rema chronicles5/29/2023 I read it aloud to my kids, and we had a great time. What’s a book you’ve recently read and loved?ĭragon Rider by Cornelia Funke. It may take decades to harvest the fruit, but it doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the beauty of the sapling as it grows. Not just “wait your turn” patience, but “in twenty years the tree will finally bear fruit” patience. Probably the most important thing is patience. Thinking way back to the beginning, what’s the most important thing you’ve learned as a writer from then to now? Right now, I’m really into Marcona almonds. His story was really what pulled me along all these years. I love his valor, his calm temperament, and his ability to overcome unspeakable adversity. It’s hard to pick a favorite! I love the main character, Tabby, because she has so much curiosity and kindness for everyone she meets, but I’d be lying if I didn’t say that Philip (the blue-haired boy) is my favorite. Who is your favorite character in the book? I spent the next few decades developing those characters and their world, until it grew into what it is now. The dream was complete with world, characters, and atmosphere. I had a beautiful dream when I was going through a very difficult time, around 12 years old. What gave you the inspiration to write this book?

Off the Leash by Jean Ellen Whatley5/29/2023 What would it take to change your life? What are you willing to risk to walk away from it all, to simply say, “I can’t do this anymore.” What happens when you awaken to a longing in your heart so deep and so powerful, to ignore it would be like leaving a baby in the road? So what happens when you step off? What happens when so many bad things have been thrown your way, you just can’t clear the hurdles anymore? Has your life ever gotten to the point where you felt like your robotic obedience to the norm is steering you off a cliff? Can you look at yourself in the mirror and say, “I am doing what I am meant to do?” Or has it come down to – Have you ever felt like running away? I mean truly running away quitting your job, checking out, going off the grid, saying goodbye to your family and friends, leaving town, the grocery store, the gas station, the lady who cuts your hair, the boy who cuts your grass, the stack of unpaid bills. How my dog inspired me to quit my job, pack my car, and take a road trip across America to reclaim my life.

He criticised both disciplines for their complacency about the adequacy of the current conceptual and methodological consensus on how history or economics should be done. North long emphasised the importance of history and of neoclassical economics. And then realising the incompleteness of the neoclassical tools for understanding long-term change, he was a leader of a generation of economists and social scientists who brought the importance of institutions into a central position within economics – the ‘new’ institutional economics. North was a leader of the generation of economic historians who brought neoclassical economics directly into the study of history – the ‘new’ economic history. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, colleagues, and students. He was among the most important and influential economic historians and economists of the late 20th century. North recently passed away at the age of 95 at his home in Benzonia, Michigan.

The social history of each area is explained along with the implications for world-wide trade. Dickens novel bleak5/28/2023 500 different readers of the same book may have 500 different ideas of a character’s appearance. People have their own interpretation and image of what the book is supposed to look like. Individuals that have read the books and go see the movie will always be disappointed because the book is always the original and correct way of presenting the literature. It is impossible for every image, feeling, and effect to be translated from a novel into a movie or show. Movies and shows only give a slight insight into the world that is perceived by the literature. How will Andrew Davies differentiate from this series? Is it even possible for him to have a better adaptation of the novel then the 1985 series did?Įvery time that a literary work is translated into a movie or show, most of the audience believes that a lot of things were left out and that the book will always be superior. Making Bleak House into a show has already been done before in the year 1985, where most of the audience said that it was superb and one of the greatest adaptations of the novel that they have ever seen. How could Andrew Davies possibly translate this novel into just an 8-episode T.V. This 750-page novel satires the English judicial system, which helped promote legal reforms in the 1870’s. The novel has many characters and sub-plots being told by two different narrators. Charles Dicken’s Bleak House is considered one of the most complex and greatest novels of the English language. |
